Wide angle lenses?

Okay, WOW. I just wanna start off by saying that i havent written a journal in a good 5 or 6 months haha. So, i thought i might as well update :)

This semester i've been taking a grade 11 photography class and i absolutely loooooove it! Like, i've learned so so much and i'll be taking grade 12 next year and i'm really excited :) We have a lot of cool projects in that class and once my teacher is finished with my pictures i'll probably be posting some on here.

But anyway, let me just get right to what i wanted to say in the first place. My birthday is at the end of this week and i'm gonna be getting a new lens! I really really wanted a wide angle lens, but the only one made by canon that i've been able to find is like a good $900 and that's a little crazy in my opinion. So, IF ANYONE KNOWS OF A CHEAPER CANON WIDE ANGLE LENS THAT I COULD BUY, LET ME KNOW PLEASE!
If I weren't to get a wide angle, then i'm probably going to get the 55-250mm zoom lens. Does anyone have this lens? Would be great if you could tell me what you think of it :D
